Stitched Lines

The Stitched Lines catalogue documents the solo exhibition of the same name by Patricia Kelly, inaugurated by SCD Studio on Saturday, September 13, 2025 (6:30 PM) at its Perugia venue (via Bramante 22N – Italy). The project room is curated by Barbara Pavan.
The exhibition is part of CASSANDRE, a curatorial program dedicated to female voices exploring textile languages in contemporary visual arts.

In Stitched Lines, the stitched line becomes sign, writing, and reflection: from the organic forms of nature to geometric compositions—dense or rarefied—reminiscent of pencil drawings, evoking a landscape that is at once natural and cultural, historical layering and imaginary sublimation. Kelly’s artistic practice is inscribed in a contemporary discourse that values the intimacy of embroidery as an act of resistance and as a means of reconnecting with one’s land and cultural roots. The stitched line is not merely an aesthetic element but also a symbol of care and belonging, a medium for weaving bonds across generations and preserving the history of a rural world undergoing rapid transformation. Through her art, Kelly offers a vivid testimony of a relationship with the land that is at once personal and collective, physical and spiritual, where memory takes shape in both gesture and material.
